In recent years, food safety problem have occurred frequently in Taiwan. It has been found that many cases involved the illegal addition of unpermitted chemical additives. Not only has it severely hit the food consumption environment, it has also caused economic harm, and may affect people’s health. To avoid similar incidents from happening again, the government authority should build a food safety monitoring system based on empirical science. In order to prevent illegal additives from being added to food, there is an urgent need to establish systems for early warning and preventive control measures. For learning about the early warning monitoring systems and analytical techniques used for illegal food additives internationally, this event invited international experts to share their precious practical experience and achievement on early warning mechanism, monitoring systems, regulations and analytical techniques by way of keynote speeches or case studied to promote management efficiency of food additives and inspection technology. It was hoped that, through this activity, the purpose of protecting food safety could be achieved.
