Taiwan Food and Drug Administration Launches "2024 Soy Sauce Manufacturing Audit Program "

Soy sauce is a common condiment used in cooking. To ensure the safety and sanitation of soy sauce products, the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) recently launched the "2024 Soy Sauce Manufacturing Audit Program," in which the TFDA will work with local government health departments to sample and audit soy sauce manufacturers.

The inspection focuses on the information listed in the Registration of Food Businessess, the maintenance of source documents, product labeling, and compliance with the Regulations on Good Hygiene Practice (GHP) for Food, etc. Sampling and testing of raw materials and products will be carried out, and any violation of the relevant provisions of the Act Governing Food Safety and Sanitation will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

The TFDA urges food manufacturers to self-regulate and comply with the Food Safety and Sanitation Law to ensure food sanitation and consumer safety. If the labeling of soy sauce products is found to violate Article 22 and Article 28, Paragraph 1 of the Act Governing Food Safety and Sanitation, the company will be fined NT$30,000 to less than NT$3,000,000 and NT$40,000 to less than NT$4,000,000 in accordance with Article 47 and Article 45 of the same Act, respectively.
