FDA Research in Regulatory Risk Assessment

ABSTRACT

   The responsibility of the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is to assure the safety of foods, drugs and cosmetics. To fulfill its mandated mission, FDA has to carry out research in order to improve testing technology and risk assessment. The National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR) is currently carrying out research in support of this mission. This paper briefly describes regulatory risk assessment research at the NCTR.
