The Drug Information Association (DIA) 2019 Global Annual Meeting is going to take place next week from 23th to 27th June at the San Diego, CA in USA. Delegates led by Dr. Shou-Mei Wu, the Director General of Taiwan FDA (TFDA), will attend this DIA annual meeting and hold the "TFDA Town Hall" session on 24th June this year for the second time since 2018. This shows that the contributions of Taiwan had once again been affirmed by the DIA general assembly based on what TFDA has achieved in the 2018 DIA Annual Meeting. The topic of TFDA Town Hall this year is "Regenerative Medicine in Taiwan", focusing on the updated management policies and regulations of regenerative medicine in Taiwan.

The DIA Global Annual Meeting is the largest multidisciplinary event that brings together a global network of life sciences professionals to foster innovation that will lead to the development of safe and effective medical products and therapies to patients. DIA provides an invaluable forum for professionals involved in the discovery, development, and lifecycle management of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and related medical products.

Dr. Shou-Mei Wu will chair the "TFDA Town Hall" session and lead the discussion. Dr. Chung-Liang Shih from Department of Medical Affairs, Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW), Dr. Lien-Cheng Chang from TFDA, and Dr. I-Ning Tang from Center for Drug Evaluation will share the updated regulations and management perspective of regenerative medical technology and medicinal products in Taiwan. Meanwhile, the MOHW will set up the exhibit booth "Health Taiwan" during the DIA meeting to demonstrate the advantage and international competitiveness of Taiwan’s clinical trials. There are also professional poster presentations from delegates during the annual meeting. These activities demonstrate that Taiwan’s soft power in the field of pharmaceutical regulations is internationally well-recognized.

During the annual meeting, the MOHW will also host a “Taiwan Night” event on 26th June and will invite regulatory and industrial experts worldwide to attend. This will be a great opportunity for Taiwan to enhance the relationship and to promote international cooperation with other countries.
